Webinar Series: The Inflation Reduction Act

Webinar Series: The Inflation Reduction Act and What Contractors Need to Know

Member Price = $99
Non-member Price = $199

Description:
On August 16, 2022, President Biden signed into law the Inflation Reduction (IRA) which provides over $300 billion in new and modified tax incentives to spur and promote green and clean energy investments in the United States. Contractors must satisfy new labor mandates, including both prevailing wage and registered apprenticeship requirements, for projects to receive full credits. This series will provide an overview of the IRA and the new tax incentive structure, a comprehensive review of the labor mandates, and how contractors can comply with the energy efficient commercial buildings (179D tax deduction).

Webinar One:
Fundamental Components of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Credit Incentive Structure

Tuesday, February 28, 2023 | 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM ET

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) provisions aim to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the range of fuel types, energy producers and energy users. The webinar will review the tax credits that have been extended, enhanced and increased in size for energy efficiency, energy generation and decarbonized fuel production projects, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, manufacturing facilities and certain critical minerals essential for clean energy technologies.

IRA also is intended to have a meaningful emphasis on jobs and earnings growth, domestic content, and environmental justice. The webinar will explore the opportunity for the construction industry to engage in these projects and the compliance requirements that must be met.

Speakers: Laura Cataldo and Cory Wendt, Baker Tilly US

Webinar Two:
Complying With IRA Bonus Credit Requirements of Prevailing Wage and Apprenticeship

Thursday, March 2, 2023 | 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM ET

The tax credits attached to IRA-eligible projects have a bonus 5x multiplier when prevailing wage and qualified apprenticeship requirements are being met. Federal contractors are accustomed to Davis-Bacon rules and prevailing wages, but for the first time ever, these requirements are extending to privately-owned facilities. The bonus multiplier for compliance and prevailing wage makes this a critical piece for contractors to understand.

This webinar will review the basic compliance requirements that contractors must prepare to meet as well as the recordkeeping recommendations.

Speaker: Laura Cataldo, Baker Tilly US

Webinar Three:
Understanding the Expansion of 179D Credits (Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings) Under IRA

Tuesday, March 7, 2023 | 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM ET

IRA has created game changing opportunities for real estate owning companies through $270 billion in energy incentives. Real estate companies receive benefits from these energy incentives as they provide a direct offset to federal tax liability in the form of tax credits. This webinar will dive into the four main provisions in the IRA that impact real estate the most, including:

  • Section 179D: Deduction for energy efficient commercial building property
  • Section 48: Investment tax credit for energy property
  • Section 30C: Alternative fuel vehicle refueling property
  • Section 45L: New home energy efficient credit

Speaker: Chad Resner, Baker Tilly US
